afternoon. i think you will hear president obama unveil his vision for comprehensive immigration reform and i don't think it will be widely different from what he's talked about. in the past, remember, this is something he's been talking about since 2008 when he first ran for president. now it looks like he may have more support after they lost the latino vote so largely during the 2012 race so in terms of what it may look like, some of what he's talked about before includes strengthening security holding businesses accountable and higher undocumented workers including the system that does a better job of reflecting the values of the united states and in essence, encouraging folks to stay here who have gone to school her, who have gone to college here and raised here and of course, that big one, and the path to citizenship. this is one of the most controversial issues. of course, a lot of republicans don't like this idea of creating a path to citizenship. president obama has worked to get that done. the big question is how can can the white house and members of congress work together to

that he is mapping out in the past. of course, this is an issue that president obama has been talking about since 2008, he said that it's one of his great regret that's has not gotten comprehensive immigration reform done. you will see him pushing to get it done in the second is term. in terms of what he has talked about in the past, he has talked about the need to improve security at the border and he talked about the need to hold businesses accountable. those that hire undocumented workers as well as making america sort of more inviting to those who study here, making it a better place for them to get their degrees, and stay here once undocumented people do get their degrees, and then of course the more controversial point of a path to citizenship. he has argued for this. a lot of republicans disagree, they do not think there should be a path to citizenship. this has been a sticking point in the past t conventional wisdom is that there's an appetite to get something done not just to part of the president but on the part of republicans, in large parted, craig, if you look at the 2012

immigration reform. there's going to be a pretty big sticking point on what you do with the 11 million who are already here illegally. president obama's laid out a path to citizenship where they'd pay fines and back taxes, et cetera. a lot of republicans might object to that. but if i could i'd like to go back to something chris said about these steep spending cuts. i've spoken to a lot of people who really are familiar with the nuts and bolts of the budget and how actual lit money gets spent. they say that with the caps that are in place right now, with inflation cutting into those and with population growth, the only way you can really cut spending is p by doing things like firing people at the fbi. because veteran spending is going to increase automatically. president obama wants to spend more on education. that's tough. so these cuts go into effect, but they might find very quickly that it's very difficult to actually implement them. >> last thing here to you, chris, we're hearing about a couple of senators not going to be -- not going to seek re-election. talking about harkin, saxby c
